From 2001 to 2017, Oliver Mahrdt was the North American representative of the German film industry at German Films. He orchestrated Academy Award campaigns for German films, supported German productions at the major festivals in the US and Canada, and brokered film licences between the US, Germany and Japan.
Since 1994 he has led Hanns Wolters International in New York as president, consultant and producer. He is executive producer of the documentary trilogy AFTER and was associate producer of the comedy Buy Borrow Steal (US title Miss Conception, German title Last Minute Baby). As Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at SingularDTV and Breaker in New York and Zurich, he was responsible for marketing a blockchain ecosystem for film, music and art.
He co-authored the study “Market Analysis of German Films in the USA” for the German Federal Film Board (FFA), co-curated the exhibition “Hanns Wolters: Émigré Impresario” at the Leo Baeck Institute New York, and is president of the New York chapter of the Heidelberg Club International.
